Day Five Mexico

The students learned about Mexico today.  They were taught about the food, climate, and culture.  They liked how colorful the Mexican culture is and enjoyed looking at the pictures of the scenery in Mexico.  Later, they completed their scrap book, then practiced their skit and song until the parents came.  They did a great job on their presentation!

Day Three Ecuador

Today the students were taught about Ecuador.  They learned more vocabulary words, and practiced reading to each other the book “Mi Dia” that describes a typical day of a young girl.  Later they had to find food items that were hidden throughout the room and once they found the items, they had to say three things about each one in Spanish.  They were very excited when they found an item!

Day Four Panama
Day four focused on Panama. The children were surprised to learn that a dinner in Panama usually started around nine o’clock at night and could last a few hours.  They were even more surprised at how good the Flan (a typical dessert of Panama) we made tasted later in the day.  We finished off the day with the game “Duel.”  Each student stood back to back and were given a flash card with a picture of something from their vocabulary words.  They took three steps then turned around and whoever said the vocabulary word first got a point.  It was hard to score because there were so many ties!

Day Two, Dominican Republic

Today the children learned about the Dominican Republic.  They learned a Dominican song called “Arroz Con Leche”, and practiced more of the vocabulary by making their own memory game.  They made a typical juice from the Dominican Republic called “Morir Sonando” and wrote about how much they liked it in their scrap books.  They said it tasted like an orange creamsicle!

Day One, Costa Rica

The girls were introduced to Costa Rica.  They learned basic vocabulary related to food and restaurant, and practiced their new words while playing the game matamosca.  They were then taught a little about Costa Rica, such as its climate, geography, and popular food.  Later in the day we made Pan De Queso; a traditional dish from Costa Rica.  The kids cooked it on their own!
