Specialized Adult Language Classes

One-on-One Tutoring
Do you have a child who is stuggling in their foreign language class? Would your child benefit from some new strategies to help them learn the language skills they need to be successful?
YLC’s one-on-one tutoring is language support for students and adults taking language classes. We offer helpful hints for learning the rules of languages and increasing vocabulary. This service is offered at a convenient time and location for the client.
Private Language Instruction
Are you or your family planning to travel abroad? Would you like to learn some practical phrases and cultural tidbits for your trip? Are you a busy executive who needs to converse in another language for an upcoming business trip, but has a tight schedule?
Our private language classes are specifically designed to meet the client’s needs and begin at the client’s current language level. Go at your own pace and learn what you want to learn. Materials are provided and the classes are given at a mutually agreed upon location at a time convenient for the client. Many languages are available for private classes.
Please note: Scheduled private class must be cancelled or changed at least 48 business hours prior, or the cancellation is subject to a $25 fee.
Language Classes for Families
Are you looking for a fun educational activity your family can do together? Would you like to learn a new language that you can practice together daily?
Children and parents will learn a language together in a fun, casual atmosphere. Each participant will be able to learn common phrases and basic vocabulary, complete make-and-take books, play games, and sing songs. Many important cultural lessons and holiday traditions are included in the lessons. When the family learns together, it is easier to continue the practice at home throughout the week. Language Classes for Children
Would you like your child to speak and understand more than one language? Does your child like to experiment with new words? Would you like to enhance their overall learning abilities in school and prepare them for various opportunities in life?
Language learning is an important part of brain development in young children and has been proven to increase test scores of other subjects for school-age children. Children ages three and older will learn words and phrases through fun activities, games, and songs. They will make books and games to take home that reinforce the learned vocabulary. They will learn dialogues and common daily expressions, as well as holiday traditions and cultural behaviors.
Language Classes for Adults
Learning a new language can be enjoyable for adults, too! Have you always wanted to learn French, but didn’t think you could? Did you take Spanish years ago in high school or college and now realize you don’t remember any of it? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then we have the class for you. The adult classes are fun and informal. The focus of the class is on conversation, not completing textbook exercises.
YLC offers a variety of levels. At the beginner levels you will learn common phrases and practical vocabulary to communicate basic needs and personal information. At advanced levels, you will expand your vocabulary, fine tune your grammar and learn additional verb tenses. If you are already fluent, but would like to practice and improve your use of verb tenses and idiomatic expressions, join others for weekly conversation. The language classes we offer for adults are Spanish, German, Japanese, French, Italian, Chinese, and American Sign Language.
- Beginner, Part 1—If you have very little or no knowledge of the language, start here.
- Beginner, Part 2—If you have taken classes in the past AND remember some of it, start here.
- Advanced Beginner, Part 1—If you have a basic working knowledge of the language and can put simple sentences together (more than greetings and colors), start here.
- Advanced Beginner, Part 2—If you can hold a simple conversation and are ready to speak in more than one tense, start here.
- Intermediate—You can speak in at least three tenses (past, present, future), and are looking to increase your vocabulary beyond some simple sentences and increase your usage of verb tenses, this is the class for you.
Spanish Classes for Young Students
If you home school your child or live in a district that doesn’t start Spanish until high school, these classes are a great way to give your children a second language that is in demand. The curriculum is based on the state standards for foreign languages, but is delivered in a fun, hands-on approach. Start your children at a young age on the road to being bilingual; it gives them a great advantage in their school years and future career.
English as a Second Language for Children or Adults
Do you speak English well, but have a strong accent that is difficult for others to understand? Do you misunderstand idiomatic expressions when they are used in conversation?
This class is offered as a one-on-one service, as well as small group classes. Our specialty is decreasing foreign accents so you can be understood in person and on the telephone. We focus on increasing vocabulary including idiomatic expressions and expanding correct verb usage. Japanese or Chinese Language & Culture Classes
Does the Japanese or Chinese language and culture interest you? Are you planning to be an exchange student in Japan? Do you do business with China?
Take a class that introduces you to the language and culture of Japan or China. You will learn common phrases and expressions that can be used in casual conversations. Role playing with the instructor will help you learn many aspects of the culture. Learn how to greet others appropriately, eat using the right tools, bow correctly and play traditional games. Learn how to greet an exchange student here in the U.S. and what a typical school day is like in Japan or China.
Medical Spanish—Conversational Spanish Classes Designed for the Medical Professional
Learn basic conversational skills, instructional words and phrases, and questions that will get answers you can understand. Cultural information is also included in this course.
Beginners—Those with very little or no background in Spanish. This class will start at the very beginning and move at a slower pace.
Advanced Beginners—Those who have had some Spanish and understand the general rules of the language. This class will move at a faster pace than the beginner class.

We bring the classes to your location at the time that works for your group. The classes are designed to involve and engage students of all ages in conversational language learning. Qualified professionals teach them what they need to know to meet the foreign language state standards and college requirements for a foreign language. Summer Language Camps
Your Language Connection (YLC) offers language summer camps for children and youth ages 3 and older. Summer camps are available in several different languages and include language immersion, songs, games, dialogue, and cultural awareness, both in full-day and half-day offerings.
After School Language Programs for Grades K-8
While children across the globe are increasingly multilingual, it is now more important than ever to give your students every opportunity to expand their knowledge and help prepare them for their future. Your Language Connection is pleased to announce After School Foreign Language Programs for Kindergarten – 8th Grade. Our classes are educational, fun, and affordable for families. This unique program focuses on conversational language skills as well as cultural lessons to help children develop an appreciation for our rapidly changing world. Languages offered include Spanish, German, Italian, French, and Japanese.
Students will learn vocabulary and new ways of expressing themselves through structured lessons in units such as food, community, clothing, and basic conversational skills. Our experienced and dedicated language teachers use engaging techniques that make learning fun! These include illustrated tools, games, books, dialogue, and songs. Students will learn practical phrases, how to ask basic questions, and respond.
